Phase 2: Kitchen Expansion Is happening!
Phase one is complete and we are well underway in phase two! We invite you to follow along as we continue to post Kitchen Expansion updates.
We are excited about the future of Camp Homewood, and we are working hard to increase our capacity to reach more children, youth, and families with the gospel. From 2015 to 2019 our summer registrations increased by 20% and off-season usage increased by 15%, but the need to increase the size of our kitchen goes back much longer. The current facility was built in 1979, and although it was a blessing 42 years ago, it is now grossly undersized, poorly equipped, and both staff and the facility are stretched to the limit.
Come and Try Riding Lesson!
Have you wanted to go riding, but never had the opportunity? Next Saturday, October 23 we are offering a “Come & Try” lesson at Camp Homewood for anyone ages 8 and up who is interested in learning to ride!
Saturday, October 23, 2021
10:30 am - 12:00 pm
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
(Potential for a 3rd lesson if the interest is high!)
These introductory classes are geared towards beginners. Each “Come & Try” lesson includes 30 mins in our indoor arena (learn to walk/stop/steer), followed by a 30 min trail ride. We will spend an additional 15 mins on either end of the ride for time to get to know the horses, for a total of 1.5 hrs.
The Pacific Coast Children's Mission (PCCM) has been serving children, families, and adults since 1944. PCCM owns and operates Camp Homewood, which is located on a 200 acre, oceanfront property on Quadra Island, BC. The island is a short ferry ride from Campbell River on Vancouver Island. Homewood is well known for its summer Family Camps and quality programs for children and youth. The four summer camper programs offered are Harbour, Ranch, Sailing, and Woodsman camps.
From September to June, Homewood welcomes almost 90 rental groups during the week and on weekends. These include schools, quilters, hobby groups, corporate groups, youth groups, and church groups. Please explore our website and plan a stay at Homewood with your group.
The classic camp experience. Sleep in tents, canoe, kayak, try archery and riflery, plus enjoy tubing and different activities at the waterfront! There is a little something for everyone to enjoy.
Ranch Camp is for horse lovers. Sleep in cabins, learn to ride and care for a horse, enjoy going on trail rides around the property, plus have fun tubing or other activities at waterfront every afternoon!
Explore the BC coast in one of our four 27′ Catalina sailboats. Sleep in tents on shore, learn sailing skills, hike to lakes and waterfalls, and see wildlife up close. A wonderful opportunity to experience God's creation!
Woodsman is a "back-to-the-basics" camping experience. Enjoy an array of activities from kayaking and swimming in a warm lake to playing games, singing, and hiking. There is a little bit of everything to enjoy.
Serve on the Work Crew (WC) for July or August. Wash dishes, clean toilets, play at the waterfront, and build lasting friendships. Participation on WC is by application.
The Leader-In-Training (LIT) Program is for 18 high school students who want to serve and gain leadership skills. This program is eight weeks long. Admission is by application.
