Our New Well & RV Site is Complete!
We've just completed a new RV park to the north of camp's main entrance. Our six old unserviced RV sites were retired at the end of 2024. All nine of the new sites now have power and water, and seven will have sewer hookups! The service building features two washrooms, a lounge area with a coffee bar and laundry facilities, plus a mechanical room.
Why are we so excited about the RV Park? It will provide a better experience for our Family Campers, but that's just the beginning! We hope to host retired volunteers with RVs throughout the year to assist us in a variety of ways. Retired people have a lifetime of experience and wisdom to share, and camp needs help! Did you know that volunteering provides a sense of purpose and meaning, helps build friendships, prevents loneliness and isolation, reduces depression and stress, lowers blood pressure and increases heart health, increases happiness, improves mental health, and encourages learning. People who volunteer live longer than non-volunteers! On top of all of that, we believe that living in an intergenerational community is healthy. When retired folks share meals with our young interns, work side by side, and do life together, they build relationships which help Interns grow into maturity in Christ.
Can you give a week? A month? 3 months? We need help in every department: Hostessing, Food Services, Maintenance, Grounds Keeping, Housekeeping, and in the Office. If you are interested in learning about how you can help, please contact our office at camp@camphomewood.com or call 250-285-3483.
