Tents have played a central role in our programs since 1948. Every summer up to 120 campers call a tent their home for a week at Harbour or Woodsman. Sleeping ‘outside’ in a tent allows children to hear the birds and experience the wind or rain in a new way. Canvas helps foster a closer connection with God’s creation. Unfortunately, our platforms are rotting, and our tents are breaking down from sun rot or mildew and all need replacing.
Thanks to generous donors, willing volunteers and our hard working maintenance team we were able to replace 8 tents between our Harbour and Woodsman locations during the spring last year! The new tents and bunk beds (a gift of 50 sets of beds last summer worth $38,000!) will allow us to welcome up to 20 more campers each week at Harbour. That’s 120 new spots for kids to experience camp and hear about Jesus! This year our goal is to finish the remaining 8 tents before the Summer season starts.
GET INVOLVED: We need $37,600 to complete this project. Please give generously to ensure our new tents can be sewn and shipped prior to April 15, 2020. This is a great project for volunteers! If you can help remove the existing platforms or build the new ones, please contact camp at 250-285-3483.
Our mattresses have been heavily used for decades. They were thin to begin with, but they have broken down and no longer provide much in the way of comfort. They don’t just look worn and ragged - they are! And those are our good ones... the Woodsman mattresses are truly horrible! It is time for us to get rid of the old Woodsman mattresses and the worst of the Harbour matts and replace them with quality 5” foam mattresses (with waterproof covers!) that will be hygienic and comfy.
Our fundraising goal to replace these mattresses is $35,000. The best of the old vinyl covered mattresses will go to Woodsman this summer.
