17 of our 19 tent platforms have now been replaced and they’re ready for campers! Money may not grow on trees, but lumber does, and we know how much that costs these days due to Covid! Camp saved approximately $18,000 in 2021 by milling the decking for the new platforms with our Wood-Mizer sawmill. Many thanks to all of our donors who gave to support this project and to Roger Friesen for his help milling!
Thanks to generous donors, willing volunteers and our hard working Site & Facilities team, 17 of our Harbour and Woodsman tents have been replaced and they look great! A huge thanks to Clearbrook Iron Works for donating 50 sets of bunkbeds worth $38,000 for the tents at Harbour! These larger tents are bright and airy and the bunkbeds will allow us to welcome up to 20 more campers each week at Harbour. That’s 120 new spots for kids to experience camp and hear about Jesus!
Thanks to generous donors we have been able to replace 30% mattresses. Decades of campers will thank you for your generosity as they will sleep better thanks to the new padding!
Our mattresses have been heavily used for decades. They were thin to begin with, but they have broken down and no longer provide much in the way of comfort. They don’t just look worn and ragged - they are! And those are our good ones... the Woodsman mattresses are truly horrible! It is time for us to get rid of the old Woodsman mattresses and the worst of the Harbour matts and replace them with quality 5” foam mattresses (with waterproof covers!) that will be hygienic and comfy.
Our fundraising goal to replace these mattresses is $35,000. The best of the old vinyl covered mattresses will go to Woodsman.
