Site & Facilities - Maintenance
Position Title: Site & Facilities - Maintenance
Reports To: General Director
Positions Supervised: Interns, Volunteers (including LITs & Work Crew)
Remuneration: On site housing and base salary to be determined by the Board. This is a full time missionary position and requires raising personal support.
Position Overview:
This person works as part of a team, typically made up of the Maintenance Worker / Special Projects staff member, plus 2 seasonal Interns who serve from September to June. The Site & Facilities (S&F) team is responsible for helping to maintain and operate the physical property which includes grounds, buildings, utilities, camp equipment, and vehicles to ensure the long term viability of the ministry. This position calls for hands on involvement in maintenance, inspection of items and work, and facilitating contractors, trades, and volunteers (year round, seasonal, or single visit). Energy will also be directed toward setting priorities, adhering to budgets, and researching and implementing projects. Property Staff members function as a team who are committed to building the Kingdom of God. Responsibilities are to be carried out in a way that will honour Jesus Christ and comply with the Pacific Coast Children’s Mission’s Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
This position requires the employee to work outside, which will mean exposure to rain, snow, heat, and cold. The job is physically demanding. Applicants must be in good physical condition. The intensity and focus of this position varies seasonally, and is not a typical ‘9:00 – 5:00’ job. During the summer camping season especially, Site & Facilities workers will be called upon to support program needs or to respond to emergencies outside of normal work hours.
The Maintenance worker is one of several full time missionaries living on site. The property must not be left unattended. When all resident Property Staff are absent overnight (or longer), an approved caretaker must live on site. For camp-sanctioned events requiring all staff to be away from camp, the General Director will arrange for coverage.
